Default VPS and an Alexa 15000 site

Hi there,

I would like to know whether my current VPS would be able to handle an Alexa.com 15000 site that gets about 25000 visitors per day? Is it really necessary to upgrade to a dedicated server or would additional RAM to my existing VPS account do the trick?

Are these unique visitors or what? Also, what sort of content do you have? Are you using database-driven forums and blogs? It's not just the traffic that counts, but the way the content is managed and what resources it requires.

With a site that size, however, I would hope it's monetized and that the cost differential is not an issue.

Thanks for the quick response Shazam. It's an adult related site getting on average 23k uniques a day. It has a MySQL backend and the entire site is php driven. I use the phplinkdropper script. There are some hosted videos, but most of the times visitors are redirected to another site. Also, this site isn't really monitized yet.

In late of the database-driven backend, I think VPS might be borderline for this. If you can see your way clear, I'd definitely consider dedicated.
