Default Virtuozzo -- Status Stopped?

When I check my services in Virtuozzo -> VPS Services -> System Services, httpd and mysql show a red "X" icon (stopped) for status.

Restarting them doesn't change the status to running, and restarting the VPS makes no difference, either.

The site seems to be working...

Is this a bug in Virtuozzo? I checked the help manual and it indicates they should be showing the green checkmarks and "running".

What's the deal?

I found out that it is running.
You should use WHM for this, not virtuozzo.

I wish so other solution was used (because I wonder if there is some conflict between cPanel/WHM and Virtuozzo? - I don't know)

VZ wasn't built for cPanel and SwSoft refuses to make a linking app for both, and visa versa for cPanel/WHM so its a stale mate on that one.

Very good question. I saw that myself. But then I found that same issue across several VPS plans by other hosts as well, so I figured it was normal.

Besides, if httpd wasn't working, your pages wouldn't be served!

Hi, I just received my VPS server two days ago and I am brand new to it. Brand new here too. It's an intriguing feeling though. One can become a web hosting server but it will take some steep learning curves. I too notice the httpd and mysql X out and wondered why and was just about going to ask my hosting service. Then I said let me search the web first. Good thing because I found this site.

Now I registered my domain name Saturday 17th. but I am not sure if its propagated as yet. In theory if you place (www.yourdomain.com ) instead of the IP# the hosting service gave, you should get the same page that comes up (Great Success, Apache is working on your Cpanel). I am still getting "page not seen" when I use my domain name. Also where do I place my html files as the root owner. In what directory? Thanks for a quick response

You need proper nameservers on your domain for the domain to be "seen" by your server. I assume you know this, but you didn't mention it so I thought I'd throw this out there.

I have registered the two ns1.mydomainname.com and ns2.mydomainname.com and linked it with the mainIP address. What I dont know is if the other two IPs that were given were the one I should have used. They were sequentially 2 up the last number.

Ok, so basically -

You're a new customer (with a new domain). So what the two IPs are provided for is:

ns1.yourdomain.com to be mapped to IP 1.1.1.1
ns2.yourdomain.com to be mapped to IP 1.1.1.2

* note : 1.1.1.x is just a example IP.

So once you've done the above at your registrar, you will need to point yourdomain.com to: ns1.yourdomain.com, ns2.yourdomain.com (creating a loop on this domain in a sense).

now you're all set!!! what you should do now is go happly into http://1.1.1.1/whm and setup any new hosting accounts within the /whm.

Ok. I got the idea now. It's working. I had a feeling about opening a new account but I hesitated thinking that why should I have to do this when that was done for me when I got the VPS. But I was still in a mind set of a "shared plan". The system needed me to open the first account. Bingo! Thanks

Yeah, that too. The server needs to know you want it to answer for that domain, which requires domain setup within cPanel unless you know your way around unix (I dont, haha).
