My VPS is currently using PHP 5.2.2 and MySQL 4.2.2-standard. I'm starting to be concerned about adding new domains with current software that recommends MySQL 5.x and thinking I should upgrade to MySQL 5.x before things get any more complicated.
The thing is, reading the info at MySQL is a little horrifying. I see you have a tutorial on downgrading from MySQL 5 to version 4, but I didn't see one on doing the upgrade, which is also sort of ominous. So, I have two questions:
According to what I can gather from what I've found, the procedure is as follows:
Aren't there quite a few settings for EasyApache that I would need to set or will it retain current settings as defaults when I run it? Last edited by itwasntme; 09-20-2008 at 04:10 PM. |

I didn't get any replies on this, so today I went ahead and tried it.
It seems to have worked just fine, and I didn't need to run the command: Code:
/scripts/perlinstaller --force Bundle::DBD::mysql Quote:
![]() I haven't encountered any issues with the sites yet, and my only Perl-based script that uses MySQL seems to be working just fine. Last edited by itwasntme; 09-20-2008 at 04:10 PM. |

Thanks for posting. With this one you want to be careful that its not going to mess up anything in the process. From what i'm seeing above it shouldn't be a problem at all. However, I'm going to keep an eye out on it.
If you google something like "cPanel MySQL 5 upgrade" you should be able to come up with some good articles on how to do this.

Thanks, Denis.
It looks like I am in good shape after the above procedure. I did get that error listed above, but haven't noticed any problems with MySQL thus far. I posted on the cPanel forums to see if that error was something I needed to worry about, and so far have received one reply that tells me to ignore it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. |
