Default update VPS hosting packages via yum or cPanel/WHM Update Config

Is it correct to use yum to update my VPS hosting packages? Do you think this could be a good idea? On the other hand, I can trust the update system from WHM.

Avoid at all cost to update your VPS packages via yum. I will advise you always use the cPanel/WHM Update Preferences. Just change your cPanel/WHM update preferences from manual to automatic RELEASE.
