All:
For about 9 months now I have been a loyal - dedicated - hostican shared hosting customer. I love the service, love the support and have no intention on going anywhere. Well, I want to take the next step to VPS as there are a number of things I want to do with my site(s). That said, I have a number of questions for both hostican and the user community before doing so. 1) If I upgrade from shared hosting to VPS do I need to worry about the transferring of my sites and data? If upgrades from Base-host to Tera-host the end user does (me!) sees no interruption in service or loss of data. Is this the same with VPS or do I need to transfer/reconfig everything? 2) I want to go to CPanel VPS, since CPanel is what I use on my base hosting currently. Will the functionality be same? So, will fan Fantastico/Wordpress and what have you be included? Again, it would be a pain if I made the switch only to find these very basic - but critical - services are not included. 3) What steps do I need to take in order to avoid any downtime during the switch? 4) If I start with a VPS-Rage account, is it easy to move to an VPS-Extreme account? 5) How does hostican define "equal share" on the memory utilization? For example, is that to say there are 100 sites loaded to a machine - each limited t 1% CPU utilization - and that is what I am then limited to from a CPU perspective. Essentially I would like to know what CPU % I'm going to be getting going into it (or have a general idea) so that I am not caught off guard. A this point I have no specific idea as to what my CPU usage will be, I want to have an idea that I am going into the situation with flexibility. Thanks all... thanks hostican. |
