Default How to: Moving from your old Host to HostICan

The below details will show you how to move from your old hosting provider to HostICan:

1. Make a full backup at your old hosting company (using the cPanel backup process)
2. Get the necessary FTP information so you can login and download the backup from the old host.
3. Go to your VPS, open SSH and do:
3a. you can use: http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/.../x86/putty.exe
3b. in the address type your VPS IP address and leave by default on port 22
3c. it will prompt you for a username which will be root and your root password.
4. cd /home/
5. ftp
6. open domain-name-at-old-host.com
7. ls - this will list all the files in there.
8. get cpmove-...
9. wait until the download is completes
10. /scripts/restorepkg
11. When this is completed, you're all set.

Nice post! I wish I knew this before I upgraded to Hostican!

This should help to simplify the transition for developers - makes it easier to transfer cPanel hosted accounts, cool!

If you're feeling dangerous you can always do it like this (upon restoring)

/scripts/restorepkg username &&
/scripts/restorepkg username1 &&
/scripts/restorepkg username2 &&
/scripts/restorepkg username3 &&

That will restore multiple accounts without having to run the command a million times.

Wow, that is impressive. I just saved this to my notes.

My way is a lot more work, apparently. Haha

Nice, but I have slight problems.

I've just moved my cpanel backup to hostIcan (one of the resellers servers) and got shell access to home directory, but I can't find scripts directory anywhere.

How can I do this?

For this you need like a VPS as access to /scripts/... is only allowed with root rights. If you dont have that... it wont work

Do I have any other options?
I have fairly big site with 5000 members and about 6000 visits daily. Please provide me any information that might help me with this issue..

For that you need a dedicated server, not a shared hosting account....by the sounds of it.
