Hello jeffj,
You do not need to use the VZPP for managing anything. Just login to WHM and you may see the Apache status from there.

I know I'm showing my lack of prowess here, but when I logged into SSH using VZPP, I was unable to actually type any text whatsoever or paste your commands either. The window was there, but I couldn't do anything with it. I am using FF3.0.10 with javascript and java enabled. I have not used WHM for SSH. Can you tell me how?

Hello jeffj,
VZPP services are very old and made only for VPSes without control panel. WHM is what you need to manage your VPS as admin. VZPP is usefull for showing some resource usage only. Use some program to login via SSH like putty: http://chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html SSH port is : 22022

@DOCENTA:
I am running a Mac, so I just used the built-in Terminal program. However, when I ran both commands, it came back that there is "No such file or directory." But it does exist! Quote:

Download PuTTY - SSH client utility program. Connect to your hosting via SSH, as start PuTTY, type IP address on hosting server, fill username(root) and password, and make a connection. When you are in shell typing this:
Code:
tail -f /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log p.s. Use Ctrl + C keys to stop log flow. |

Reviving this thread just to say that this problem has apparently been fixed with a restart of the VPS.
Recently I received an error message stating that my VPS had maxed out the memory (not space). This seemed strange to me, considering our typical access logs. So I called HIC support and Denis restarted my VPS. Once he restarted the VPS, my memory was back to the 15-25% that I expected it to be at. But also, all of my feeds began to load properly into my Joomla sites. Not sure why the restart fixed it, but it did. Happy again!
