Default Couple of questions

Hiya,

Couple of questions, my email about my account didn't contain a root mysql password. Does this mean that there isn't one? I saw a notice about not changing it, but then how would i connect to it under shell access. It's not a major problem as i can add a user under whm/phpmyadmin then log in as that user, but is it secured?

Also the mysql innodb engine seems to be disabled? Is there a reason for that? Can i enable it or does it require mysql to be rebuilt? Just wondering before i go turning things on and break something

Cheers

Dave

P.s. Worked out how to enable the innodb table's eventually but the question is why is it disabled in the first place? I have a rough idea of the difference, but surely i can leave myisam as the default and only use the innodb's for more suited applications where myisam would be at a disadvantage?

Dave - Welcome to the HostICan Community Forum!

There is a couple of ways to find this. The MySQL root password is normally in the /etc/.my.cnf , so what you need to do is:

# cat /etc/.my.cnf

Put the above line in your SSH and it will say something like:

Password = "XXXXXXXXXXXXX"

That would be your root password
