Default Change Port Numbers for Virtuozzo & WHM

Is there an easy way to change the ports that are used for Virtuozzo and WHM.

WHM - 2086 to 2083

Virtuozzo - 4643 to 8443

Thanks in Advance....

why would you wanna do that?

2083 is the standard cPanel SSL port
if you want SSL on whm it's already configured for 2087

8443 is the commonly used SSL port for Plesk..
neither change is really a great idea (IMNTBHO)

changing ssh port from 22 to an available port greater than 30000,
now THAT would be a "great idea" ...

There's always a way to do things with your VPS. But what damage can it cause is the question. I dont recommend changing the ports, although I can see possibly extra security by doing so.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your answers.

The reason behind the need to change is when I am at a particular clients site, I still need to access my new account here.

Their Cisco kid wont open the ports for me. The ports are open because their main site is a Plesk VPS, and they have a sub site, based on cPanel.

Just wondered if there was a quick and easy fix, just means I need to concentrate more on the clients tasks rather than multi tasking or gently persuade their Cisco dude to play ball.

Thanks again for your time.

You should be able to do this: SourceForge.net: cPanel Proxy - they have a site called cpanelproxy.net - but seems not working currently? - just shows white pages

Cheers Denis,

The site is down but the script can still be accessed http://cpanelproxy.net/cPanelProxy.zip

Here is the tutorial I plan to be using.
cPanel Proxy: Server Wide Installation

I am sure this info will benefit other users also, so I will post a detailed guide of how I get on. Thanks for the pointer.
