beginner question about building a website

hi everyone:

i've never had my own website. I've only used blogger for the past few months.

my questions is, where do you upload your sites?

example:

my site url is : myexample.com

and i want to put a forum in http://www.myexample. com/forum

do i have to create a folder? if so, where do i create the folder?

So basically your question, isn't a complicated answer. When you want to upload files you want to upload them into the public_html folder which you can get to via FTP.

Now, via FTP (a program like FileZilla) you can create a folder such as "forum" where you will be able to upload your content into it.

I would suggest working with FileZilla - great and free software.
