Default slow hosting

I completely agree! I am a Wordpress user too and the slow speeds at Hostican have made it next to IMPOSSiBLE to work on my web site, let alone for other people to access it!

I run a business and I cannot expect customers to wait 60 seconds to go from one page to another on MY OWN SITE.

Hostican, what are you doing to fix this? And why has it been documented in these forums since the middle of January? Haven't you figured out what to do yet?

Thanks for your post, let me see what I can do to assist you:

1. What is your domain?

I think the problem is this: FOXNews.com - Third Internet Cable Cut in Middle East - Science News | Science & Technology | Technology News

I don't see any reason why your site would be "oh so slow"

I look forward to your reply. You can always test the loading speed of a site by going to proxify.com or any other proxy sites to find out whats going on.

1. I've found you're site - yaay!

2. It's not slow, I think you've got some connection issues or an ISP has some connection issues.

3. It loads up super fast over here, and if you like other members of the forum and support my comments... just post the URL and have them review it as well

4. I've managed to find a traceroute from a support ticket, and looks like there maybe a timeout going on at the ISP level... However, I can't firm this.

5. If its happened since Jan middle - end I know for sure that you're experiencing this problem possibly: FOXNews.com - Third Internet Cable Cut in Middle East - Science News | Science & Technology | Technology News

We look forward to your reply instead of accusations

Hi Denis, thank you for your forum reply to my complaint about Hostican speeds. I am certainly impressed at how fast you were able to track down those references you used in the posting.

However fast the site may be loading right now, I have had two people complain to me today about long site loading times, and I know that the slowdowns while I was working on it through cpanel and wp-admin were not my imagination.

That FOXNews.com article you're linking to forecasts that the cable will be repaired in 10 days...and that was on February 1st. Also, I'm in Germany--completely unaffected by this downed cable. I do not have loading speed problems with any other sites I visit from here; mine is absolutely the slowest.

Since you found my site info and support ticket, I'm sure you know that I haven't been at Hostican very long. The last two weeks my site has most of the time loaded very slowly. And even today two different people complained about how long it took to load; both of them loaded the web site while I was on the phone with them.

I cannot trust that my site will keep loading as fast as it has for you in the last half hour. So what should I do now?

What we can do, is post your domain out on the web and have users that come to this forum rate if your site loads fast or slow - just to get a avg. Just to see if it loads slow for others or not. With your permission I can paste up your site link?

Denis, thank you for your suggestion, but you do not have my permission to post my URL here. What would be the point of putting it up here for a bunch of people to check it this evening and say it's running fine?

As I already said, this very day I have been on the phone with two different people who had the exact same experience loading my site: it took over 10 seconds. This is far too long. I'm going to install WP Super Cache, but it is pretty obvious given my tiny site that the problem is with the web server and not the CSS. I don't want to get trapped into a year of this, and I'm not the only person who has experienced such a slowdown.

What I would like to know from you is how many other complaints you have received in February from users similar to me: users with tiny WP sites who have experienced abnormally long site loading times. Could you supply this information please?

Thanks.

Well, it will prove if its your connection or us... since you said we're slow ... I think it would be fair to place your site as a tester... to see if its slow for the other forum posters...and if anyone ever reads this post... might bring you some biz in the future

Angry

I'm sorry that I did not put a link. That was my mistake. I just got from work I could not answer.
?????? ?? ?????? - that's my site.
That link u gave me... hm... I don't think it's for me.... I'm Russian, but right now I'm in Canada. And I've got a cable Internet. And trust me... I don't have any problems with speed at all.
I was using aplus.net/ before and did not a problems like "u r using to much of memory" And here we r go... my site is down for 5 min.
I've got people coming from Russia an my site. And they also saying, that it' almost impossible to work. To do "user registration" it's horrible! Site is going right a way down! My website using about 12 meg of memory... I do not think that's too bad. I had the same site on different hosting... did not have any problems!
I'm really sorry for my English, it's my second language. I hop u got everything what I'm saying.

Default timing

I tried to load my website at 1:33 p.m. (GMT+1); I look at a blank page for 6 seconds while it says "connecting to Belletra...waiting for Belletra". I installed WP-Super Cache last night and it's made no difference. This is a server-side problem!

Dasani are you also on ESC07? I checked your website and it is exactly the same problem as mine: users get stuck looking at a blank page for 5-7 seconds while waiting to connect to your server.

What I have noticed is that once that first connection is made, subsequent pages will load FAIRLY fast--2-3 secs instead of 5-6. Still unacceptable for any business site of course.

If you wait 40 minutes when there have been no connections in between, and try to connect to the site again, you get this same delay problem. Is there some sort of caching problem on the hosting server? Denis can you look into why new connections are taking longer for WP sites?

*edited at 1:43 p.m. GMT*
It's consistently 5-6 seconds on new pages that haven't been served for a while. 6 seconds to serve up the wp-admin logon, 6 seconds to serve up the dashboard. I'm on a DSL line and this does not happen to me with any other site except Dasani's.
