Question Add-on domain

Hi
Im having a little problem in setting up an additional domain in my account, here's the deal:

- i have my first domain domain: domain.com - Get online with a domain name and web hosting

- then i pointed my add-on domain to a subdirectory in the 'public_html' folder: www.addon.com | addon communication has document root > domain.com - Get online with a domain name and web hosting

-but when i open the addon domain it shows me: domain.com - Get online with a domain name and web hosting instead of www.addon.com | addon communication

am i missing something here? i really need help, i've been trying the whole day..but it just doesnt work well. its driving me nuts

any help would be greatly apreciated : )

Welcome to the HostICan Forum!

What are you trying to do?

1. Addon domains (separate domains such as apple.com...)
2. Parked domains (domains that resolve the same /public_html/ folder?)

Sounds to me like its the latter... so just do the parked domains?

nope..its an add-on domain, I did the whole process but it seems it's not working as it should, because it sends me to the main domain, instead of the sub-directory for it...its really confusing.

I also tried redirecting the add-on domain its subfolder, but its not the way i want it, it shows the main domain.

thanks

What you should do is:

The addon domain will create a new addon domain folder, thats just how it works Then you can use a redirect if needed to redirect other domains.

Otherwise, you should be all set.

like have my main domain:

www. domain .com

and also my www. addondomain .com <-when i go to my add-on domain all it does is that it redirects to www. domain .com it doesn't show me the sub-directory they both show me the main page even though its's not set-up like that

thanks

ok I just did exactly that..but it shows me my main page, not the sub-directory.

do i have to use a redirect, maybe?...even though i would like the add-on domain showing, instead of the main domain and the /sub-directory...if possible...is there any way to do it this way, without a redirect? or is it just meant to work like that, both domains pointing to the main site?

thanks again, sorry for the trouble : )

In my experience, when this sort of thing occurs, it is usually the fault of your .htaccess that is located in your /public_html/ folder.

Temporarily rename your .htaccess file there to 1.htaccess and see if that corrects the problem with your addon domain. If that fixes it, you have a permanent redirect in place that's causing the issue.
