ANGRY!!!

I wake up Tuesday morning and my site is down. (www.speedsyndicate.net) I call in and ask why and they can't figure it out and tell me that they would call me back in 30 to 45 minutes. 5 hours later and still no call so I start calling them only to get the voice mail. I leave several messages throughout the day and finally send in an e-mail. They responded and told me that videos were not allowed on their servers. They also said that I had too many pictures in my gallery.

The problem is that before I transfered my site to Hostican I had their people review my entire website to verify that there would be no problems. I informed them of my gallery which at the time held 16,000 images, (Up to 18,000 now) and my video pages which had maybe 5 less videos than it does now. They approved everything and said that there would be no problems at all. Then THEY transfered my entire site for me. Now all of a sudden I am told that I have too many pictures and I can't host videos. This seems to be the typical bait and switch technique. Keep in mind that this is a car club website with no obscene material at all.

To this point my site is still down and I have no access to anything. I can't even log in to make any changes. Not one person has given me any clue as to if or when my site will be accessible again and I still can't get anyone to answer the phone or call me back.

GRRRRR!!!!!!!

..cut...

I can understand your point of view. I've had a very similar problem.
During my first contacts with hostican sales managers I explained them the websites I was going to transfer to them. I've been assured that a shared account would be suitable for me... do you want to know what happened?

Can either one of you guys say why you have 18,000 images? Please tell me how many folks will view 18,000 images in 24 hours? more then likely 0. Servers aren't private galleries. What is it like 65GB of images? Why not just store some on your PC? why you need to waste all that space for images that you won't see ever again after 6 months? - After all, even imageshack and other image places remove files that arn't visited more then 30 days.

What will happen when you get to 650GB of images? you will still keep them?

I think this gentleman's main point was that the pre-sales team told him his image gallery and his videos wouldn't be a problem on the hosting plan he's paying for. His reasons for wanting to keep such an image gallery seem to me to be beside the point.
Did the pre-sales team make a mistake when they reviewed his site and said he had nothing to worry about?

I believe his second point was that after being told that his call would be returned in 30-45 minutes, it never was, and he was unable to reach the support department by telephone again. How could this have happened?

Thank you Peter!! You hit the nail on the head. If they had just told me to begin with that their servers wouldn't be able to handle my site then I would have signed up elsewhere.

Here it is the next morning I still haven't been contacted by ANYONE at Hostican and my site is still down. 2 DAYS www.speedsyndicate.net has been down!!!!! This is HORRIBLE service!!!!!! I have left about 30 messages and and e-mails each and nobody has responded!!! Will someone please just put my site back online for a short while?!?! That way I can make sure I have everything current on my computer and then transfer it to a different webhost!!!!! That's all I ask!! Contact me somehow and soon!!! Why is this soo difficult for you people??? I don't see any excuse for my site being inaccessable to me when I just want to get it off your servers. If you have one please speak up and quit hiding out.

Woah!!! This host really does just tell you what you want to hear in order to get your money. I'm out of here as soon as they restore my access.... If they ever do.

What the person says is misleading. Actually, our sales staff will try to give an answer, but it's mostly a guess, based on the information provided by the prospective client. Most times, the customer gives us accurate information; sometimes they don't because they simply forgot a detail or tried to buy less than they really need.

In the end, we may find that the account isn't suitable for shared, and there's no choice but to ask them to upgrade.

Our Terms of Service clearly specify the limits to our shared systems, via a link. These limits are in the higher-echelon among major Web hosts, so we're giving you a lot more than the competition in the real world (not in theory).

We are not just telling you what you want to hear, because we know that if our services don't meet your expectations, you'll go elsewhere. That's what our 30-day guarantee is all about. There's no way we'd stay in business if we always tried to get our new customers to order less than they really need.

You are going to be contacted privately to resolve this matter once and for all.
