Unhappy Internal Server Error 500

Hello,

I password protected a directory on my Tera-Host account, and got an "Internal Server Error 500" after entering the username and password on the URL to test the password protection.

I have not uploaded anything to the account yet -- this is a new account, and wanted to password protect the directory before my developers upload my website. I am including the content of the htaccess file under this (/public_html) directory.

All help will be appreciated -- thanks, in advance.

Try removing the .htaccess or renmaing it completely, then re-do the password protection, it should resolve this issue. I'm not a .htaccess guru, but I know something in here is causing the issue.

It doesn't look like you have tons of advanced configs in here, so renaming would prob the ideal way to handle it.

Thanks for your response.

1. I renamed the .htaccess file, and I don't get the error message anymore. However, won't the renaming affect any other functions?

2. I can't undo the password protection even if I want to. I uncheck the box for password protection and click Save, but it doesn't undo it. I will only want the password protection temporarily, so after some time of uploadng the website, I will need the password protection eliminated. How to solve this?

Thanks

If you delete the .htaccess that should fix the above problem(s).

Thanks. I also had to delete the user, associated with the password protected directory. It seems to be working now.

Thanks
