I need to post a follow-up on this thread that may help others.
It turned out installing the Comodo SSL cert through cPanel's interface, which lacks a box for the CA bundle, did not work. It appeared to work; the SSL Manager reported the correct expiration date of the new certificate, but as soon as my old certificate expired, I started getting "invalid certificate" errors that I could not fix from cPanel. I had to get HIC to install the Comodo certificate via WHM, which does have a box for the CA bundle. My recommendation: Don't buy a Comodo certificate if you are on shared hosting. Have HIC install a Geotrust certificate for you ($80). The Comodo certificate is the same price per year, but it costs an extra $30 to have HIC do the installation via WHM, so it's cheaper to go with HIC's Geotrust cert. ![]() |
