zone check failed (huh?)

Any help appreciated ...

I need to host a website on my account, and the domain is hosted by an external registrar (no, it's not GoDaddy - I wish!)

I've just added the new domain to my account (add-on domains) and I've asked the company hosting the domain to change the DNS info to:

ns1.hostican.com
ns2.hostican.com

I've done this before and it usually works.

This time, the registrar sent me an email stating that the 'zone check' failed. I have no idea what she is talking about, or what I need to fix.
