Exclamation Hacked 10-09

I have a joomla site on shared hosting and was hacked by 1923TURK-GRUP - Is there anyway I can protect myself? Im using the latest software build of joomla, password is huge. no chmoded 777 folders. Hostican is charging me 90$ for a site restore, any ideas how I can prevent this from happening all over again? (As far i can tell they hacked my template config file the SQL and Files are still there...)
