Default FYI: Internal Server Error 500

This is a guide to assist you in understanding what could cause possible problems for your account and why you maybe seeing the "Internal Server Error 500".

This is normally due to one of the following factors:
  • .htaccess problem - a problem within the .htaccess file that isn't supported by the server such as configurations like: "php_flag register_globals 1" and other settings like these.
  • PHP - chmod (permission) settings over 755 will cause this error to appear as well, as it breaks the scripts as maximum permissions that you can have on any shared server is 755.
Hope the above helps you out. Feel free to ask more questions, if you have any.

Let me try to give a step by step process.

You are getting Internal Server Error 500, right, lets give it a try ( b sure to check the site, after each step )

1 Check the permission of the folder public_html. Anything other than 755 ? change it to 755

2 If the domain is on another folder , like, domain.com/blog, check the permission of the folder. Anything other than 755 ? change it to 755

3 Check the permission of index file. Anything other than 644 ? change it to 644

4 Rename the .htaccess file to .htaccess_bak or old, try accessing the website. If its fixing the issue, rename the file again to .htaccess, and check the codes ( remove odd looking codes and remove them, save file, try accessing the website, until you figure out which line of code is giving you the issue )

5 If renaming the .htaccess file also did not fix the issue, check if the php service is running on the server. ( from this point, you willl need the help of a support tech

If anyone cana dd or modify these steps, please do
