Changing domain name in WordPress and HIC account

Hello,

I am in the process of converting an existing site hosted elsewhere to a WordPress hosted here at HIC. I'm using a domain name (domain.tv) to develop the new WordPress site and, when ready, would like to switch that over to the existing domain (Register a Domain, Find Hosting and Create a Website | Domain.com).

How would I go about doing this?

If you wish to be prepared before join HostICan services make installation of WordPress on your local PC. Build your WordPress project locally and when you are ready, please order a HostICan plan. After that log in your current domain registrar and change NS records for the domain to HostICan NS addresses.

But what would be the difference from using a local pc to using an account already hosted at HIC? I currently have one at HIC with a different domain than the one I would like to eventually switch over.

Absolutely, you can use current HostICan account to switch your existing another-domain here. Once the domain is resolved with HostICan nameservers you may add it through the Domain options in cPanel.

One good solution is to use cPanel Domain pointers through Parked Domains. Using Parked Domains feature you can add parked domains to your account. This mean that you can reach your domain when entering the name of the parked domain into a browser. Log in to cPanel and click on the corresponding icon located on the main screen of your cPanel interface. On Parked Domains pages enter the name of the domain in the blank field and click on Add Domain! .

Thanks, the parking is good for some things but my goal is to transfer an existing live site hosted elsewhere to HIC with as little downtime as possible. So far no one is really explaining the easiest, fastest way to do it.

Pay $10 for this service and HostICan will change your main domain. This operation is not so easy because they must retain the content of your account until changing some settings (NS settings for domains, IP address, Apache config , etc.)
