What's the best way to get your site going? What would you recommend?

I would start by doing:

1. Building a good site and getting it ready for sales.
2. Directory submissions and PR back links
3. Setup a Blog and skinning it.
4. etc...

Also keep your focus. Don't just add pages with irrelevant content in the hopes of attracting higher rankings on the search engines. You might end up doing the reverse.

And consider your audience. If your site becomes popular because of a specific approach, you'll want to use that as a guidepost in expanding content.
