Question A few questions

First I want to start by saying that I'm new to the pay-for-hosting arena. I've been running my own personal server in my house for the last 5-years and do all the maintenance & etc. myself. But, as time has passed, I'm getting tired of doing the maintenance myself, and for the price you guys advertise, it really wouldn't cost me much more that what it costs me now (for electricity, software, hardware, etc).

I currently run 2 website off this machine, both with their own domain name that is being re-directed from my registrar to my IP (which luckly is for the most part static). The main site of mine is a moderately simple family web site w/ approx. 6 GB of pictures and small videos. The other site I small and something I slapped together for my softball team (consits of a schedual and a forum for their rants).

The following are a few of my questions (in no particular order, just how I thought of them).

- I see you guys are "eCommers enabled". What does that intail. Is it just you have the scripts for creating a decent looking ecommers site? or does it also include a shared SSL (I thought I read somewhere that you do offer a private SSL for a price, but I don't think I'd be interested in that quite yet)? I don't current run an eCommers site, but perhaps someday I may be interested.

- What type of sites do you guys allow, like Adult, Podcasting, etc. I ask because I'd hate to pick a shared environment and get stuck w/ someone who chews up all the resources & bandwidth. Plus, not that it will turn me away completely, but I tend to disagree w/ hosts that allow Adult themed sites (you know what I'm getting at)...

- How long have you guys been in business? I didn't see it anywhere, perhaps I missed it.

- I also seen in your "Awards" section, you talk about be a BBB Member. Well, when I went to the BBB's website and looked you guys up, you came up as "not a BBB Accredited business". Here's a link to the page I seen this at. BBB's Site. What happen here?

- I seen somewhere, that you talk about ASP support via CGI. I'm not familiar with CGI and am wonder how hard this is, because I'm currently (and slowly) working on converting my family's website to PHP from ASP. And if I had to have it all in PHP, I'll have wait to get hosting 'till that gets done (which with my schedual and the family, it could be a while, like months).

- I see w/ your shared hosting, that there are two plans, one allows 1 domain the other unlimited. As I said earlier, I have two domains. And with what you guys offer in the base-host plan would suffice for both. Can a guy "add-on" a second domain for a price? Or do I have to get the tera-host plan?

- As for the free domain for life. Since I already have a domain name registered ('till something like 2012), could I transfer it to you and still get that deal, or is it for new registers only?

- With the PHP. What extensions are available? I'm mostly interested in the php_exif, php_gd2, php_mbstring & php_mysql, because that's what I am currently utilizing.

- Cron Access, here's something I've only recently heard about. How does this work? I'm assuming it's similar to like a windows "scheduled task" (for a lack of a better compairison).

- I didn't see in you TOS anything about types of files that can be on the server. I've seen other hosts that make statments like, your site cannot contain more than 70% media files (including movies, pictures, etc.) and since my site is practically all pictures and movies (like 7 GB worth), would this be a problem. (I don't expect much traffic, mostly just from friends and family).

I know I'm forgetting some other questions I have, but can't remember at this time... I'll post again when I think of them.

>> All the accounts have open source applications such as OSCommerce that you can use to setup a "eCommerce" store front. You will need SSL and a dedicated IP if you wish to accept credit cards via your site. So thats there if you need it.

- I also seen in your "Awards" section, you talk about be a BBB Member. Well, when I went to the BBB's website and looked you guys up, you came up as "not a BBB Accredited business". Here's a link to the page I seen this at. BBB's Site. What happen here?

>> After 3 years of working with the BBB, we have seen how they misrepresent the truth and twist what the problem is with a membership. I've personally worked for companies that have the worst reputation as hosts, but have excellent BBB status, so if you're looking for a real honest review, you'd be better off reading some reviews vs checking up on us at the BBB.

>> These sites are monitored and if they exceed the limits, they are emailed and automatically suspended until they calm down... so no worry have having bad nei.... that wake you up at night.

- How long have you guys been in business? I didn't see it anywhere, perhaps I missed it.

>> Since 2003

- I seen somewhere, that you talk about ASP support via CGI. I'm not familiar with CGI and am wonder how hard this is, because I'm currently (and slowly) working on converting my family's website to PHP from ASP. And if I had to have it all in PHP, I'll have wait to get hosting 'till that gets done (which with my schedual and the family, it could be a while, like months).

>> Since this is a Linux setup so ASP doesn't run very well. But its doable. However, unsupported by us.

>> With the Base-Host you can add 1 addon domain so the actual account can host 2 domains. With the Tera-Host you can host as many as you need, and they all have separate root folders, so you can't get your files mixed up.

- As for the free domain for life. Since I already have a domain name registered ('till something like 2012), could I transfer it to you and still get that deal, or is it for new registers only?

>> The Free Domain For Life is applicable only with new domains, not transferring domains so if you want to take advantage of this offer, you would need to register a new domain.

- With the PHP. What extensions are available? I'm mostly interested in the php_exif, php_gd2, php_mbstring & php_mysql, because that's what I am currently utilizing.

>> These are all supported.

- Cron Access, here's something I've only recently heard about. How does this work? I'm assuming it's similar to like a windows "scheduled task" (for a lack of a better compairison).

>> Its exactly like the windows "schedule a task" you set a time and a date when A function or command is suppose to be run... thats what it does.

- I didn't see in you TOS anything about types of files that can be on the server. I've seen other hosts that make statments like, your site cannot contain more than 70% media files (including movies, pictures, etc.) and since my site is practically all pictures and movies (like 7 GB worth), would this be a problem.
