Hi hostican,
We're researching ISPs for a start-up web based company. We are looking for a small set of ISPs who provide excellent service and support as well as reasonable prices for basic shared hosting plans. Most of our target customers will only require very basic hosting needs. The one thing we need to have implemented, is the ability for our customers to sign into our custom CMS system via SSL, so that their updates are securely transmitted. Our system requires that our main CMS files can be reached via https at the same location as they are via http (ie most shared ssl-certs won't work, as they tend to be located in a different account/location as the rest of the user's account). Our question for hostican is: Would your base hosting plan give our customers the ability to use https: via a Self-signed SSL cert that you would set-up/install as part of the set up of the initial account? Our customers could then access our CMS via https (with a warning dialog, of course) and know that their transmissions are being encrypted. Kind regards, -Chris |

As long as you've obtained a dedicated IP, then it would work fine. Like you mentioned, you will see that warning message with a selfsigned SSL but apart from that - you should be good.
