Exclamation Remote connection to Mysql

hi am trying to connect remotely to my mysql database but i keep getting server not found error. When i ping it does see my hostname. Besides I have done the following:

Created a schema
Added a user+password to the schema.
Connecting with MySql Administrator tool with port:3306
Added Access host IP of my computer

But it isnt connecting.I have worked on other ISP servers and this procedure has never given me any hassles.

Any help please am on a VPS hosting

Welcome to the HostICan Forum!

Normally what you need to connect Remote MySQL (to a cPanel account) is to go into:

cPanel

1. Remote MySQL Access
2. Enabled "%" which is a wildcard that will allow you access

NaviCat or whatever you are using:

Port: 3306
IP: 123.123.123.123 (whatever your real IP is)
Username: username_dbusername
Password: *******
*DB Name: username_dbname

* not sure if you need the DB name or not... dont honestly remember.

You should be all set after that.

Thanks for your feedback. I did all that before i posted my issue with to connecting remotely but to no avail. 'username' - is your domain name e.g mysitename_dbusername etc but doesnt work.I mean cpanel by default inserts this suffix for you. I am using MYSQL QUERY BROWSER and so much of a difference besides the IP you mentioned which you dont need to insert.

I was once on lunarpages hosting and same config rules - it worked on the shared hosting i once had with them.

What do you suggest i do now?

The username would look something like this:

cPanelusername_dbusername

thats what the username is. PM me what you are using, so I can check it out.

I contacted support and they sent me this. Only Navicat can connect remotely with all these changes effected. MYSQL Query Browser generates error attached.I wonder why! Do you?

1. Login to your /whm
2. Go to: ConfigServer Security&Firewall 3. Click on: Firewall Configuration 4. Find Row: "TCP_IN = "
4a. Add this: on the end of the row: ",3306"
4b. Go to the end cick on "Change"
5. Restart CSF (next page) and you're done.
