Default cuteFTP

I have used cuteFTP to upload Pixelpost files onto my cpanel. My instruction is to type www.mypage.com/pathtopixelpost/install.php When I type all of this in I get the Error 404! message. I have tried just about every possibility for this and none of it has worked. What am I doing wrong???

Hello - Welcome to the (HIC) Forum...

Have you:

1. Checked that it has the correct permission 755 or below...
2. Have you uploaded it to the correct place? /public_html/pixelpost/ ?
3. Does your name already resolve to this server? If not, this could be the problem...

Simple answers I know, but you'd be surprised at how the simple steps seem the hardest....

I have set both images and thumbnail folders to permission 777 which is what the instructions told me to do. Also when I try to load all of the pixelpost files through cuteFTP I get red error messages reading "500?" in the color red. It stops the upload at this point. I just paid for the base host today, could that also be the reason? The only other thing I can think of is the database information that I have to edit in pixelpost.php I may have some names wrong here.

Hello,

More then likely you will need to change that 777 to 755 and that should allow you to continue the installation. You may want to check the .htaccess file and rename it to something like .htaccess.old for now and see if that is affecting this issue....

I can't remember the error messages I got (it's been almost a year and I was with another host then) but I never could use CuteFTP or any of the free FTP programs. They just didn't really give me enough control or options I guess.

I use FlashFXP (recommended by the vBulletin support teams) and it works beautifully. It cost $25 but I think it was well worth it.
