Default What about applets

What about java applets? They are cool No? Granted you need to keep up with the java updates and java has no where near the penetration that say the flash player does. But just "try" to do some of the stuff you can in applets in flash, well good luck anyways.

Don't get me wrong Flash is my favorite design platform period. But being able to use midi with java applets is just the Stuff IMHO..

Regards
James

I do not like how long it takes to load applets in my browser when viewing sites. They also make my browser crash because I am already leaving the site before the applet loads.

LOL. Yeah that's a drawback, but hopefully people would want to stay around long enough to let it load.

Actually you raise a larger question. We all want our sites to load in less than half a second for folks with broadband connections.

But there are times when it's going to take a little longer to deliver special content.

Just how long are you willing to wait before you go to another site?

If anyone cares, maybe I'll put up a poll.

JVM is no longer supported by Microsoft. So in order to keep up with the ever changing technology, you are forced to drop JVM and go with Sun's Java client.

I've got a site launching shortly after the new year that is over 50% java, java in the front end, java in the backend, sprinkled with a little bit of php.

Let's just hope people stay around for more than 10 seconds, hope to see you there scott
