| HTML / Design Are you a designer? Or just trying to become one? Great! You'll be able to talk about layouts, and HTML code to help your fellow designers, so everyone can work together to master the tricks of the trade. (Maybe even some JavaScript too!) |

Hello all you forum posters. I have what, to you might seem like a stupid question.
I just recently built my first site. I used dreamweaver and fireworks to accomplish this wonderful feat. HOWEVER, when I try to insert content into an editable region...if the content is to big for the region, it does not stretch to make the page longer. Instead it blows my table apart. What am I doing wrong?...or not doing for that matter, to cause this issue ?? Even something simple like a guest book or a hit counter has the same effect. HELP !!! ![]() |

It's very difficult to assist without "being there" if you know what I mean.
Most designers set a fixed width table (or CSS) for their pages and do not wish for their tables to exceed that width, therefore, WYSIWYG editors will not automatically widen. You will have to select the outer table and increase the pixel width.

Thanks Scott. However I figured out the best way to elliminate the problem, DON'T use tables.Starting to dabble with CSS Layouts and they work much better for the types of sites I am building. Nice to see people here are willing to help new designers out !!!

Yeah I still prefer tables, its just easier. Hard to teach an old dog new tricks. All of my elementals and various other tags is done in CSS.
But now that IE8 is going to be ACiD2 compatible, I might consider doing a full CSS design on my future sites. As it is now, sites done with CSS and tableless have problems in older browsers.

At least that's what they say about IE8. Never know if they'll come through...
I'm seeing good things so far about it so I have high hopes. Tables are good things ![]()
