Default Why Pick Dedicated?

For many of you, a dedicated server is the holy grail, the place to go when business is booming, and hits are increasing at a super rapid rate.

At the same time, we realize you have budgetary considerations too. You do not want to commit to monthly payments for services that you cannot afford, and that makes sense.

But when you outgrow the limits of shared hosting, and VPS may seem a little constricting too, you may discover that a dedicated plan, such as the two options offered by HostICan, is remarkably affordable and doesn't represent a huge stretch when you consider the advantages of having a Web server all to yourself.

You can also contact the people at HostICan for custom configurations, too, so as your business grows, you'll have the online capacity to fully support your customers.

I'd like to see a cheaper dedicated server option offered by HostICan. Something between $84.95/mo (best VPS) and $199.95/mo (smallest dedicated box). Something in the $129.95 range would be good. What do you think?

One thought: A really low-end server might seem nice on paper, but if it doesn't deliver decent performance -- and it would have to exceed that of VPS to be worth the price difference -- it may not be so good a deal.

Yes but some people refuse the VPS solution and pick cheap dedicated instead. Sometimes, your marketing to two different breeds of people.

I know people that have a cheap dedicated box to host a static site with medium traffic.

Thats just plain out of wack... why would you take a cheap dedicated and not a high end VPS? if their about the same. It sounds nuts, a dedicated server with low specs isnt much better...

It works like this: this is extra, that is extra, oh... you want cPanel ? - that's extra too. Then you're just nickel and dimming everyone to death.

It may be cool, but they could also say "virtual" dedicated server, and most people won't know the difference. At the same time, does it make sense to offer something that does little more than provide a tool for boosting egos? The point of a dedicated server is to provide someone with a larger space in which to host their sites, and get more traffic with a higher-level of resources to use and abuse as they see fit.

IMHO.

To me, its about reaching a larger audience than about boosting egos.

I have this philosophy I always follow. If it doesn't make sense but makes sales, I choose sales. This is why I always test my marketing ideas, some prosper, some need to be rewritten.

It depends... if you have large dating site, it might be very useful to have a dedicated server... you know? Just depends what you use it for... that determines if a VPS or a dedicated will be better.

Dating site? If that gets popular, you'll need a few servers
