I have a question about Dedicated Server #02. What does "unmetred" bandwidth actually mean? Could it be that even I use 10 TB, 20 TB or even 50 TB is still Ok??

Before starting with hostican, I asked theplanet.com about their unmetred bandwidth plan, and they said that it's acutally 3 TB of bandwidth per month (same as Dedicated #01). Does unmetred bandwidth really exist?

There is no way that 1 server would be able to handle 10TB or 20TB... then it becomes an I/O issue... even though you can push as much bandwidth as you want to a server, but that doesn't mean that the server will be able to handle it.

Unmetered bandwidth exists to the point of server collapse from resource usage doodoofan. The more PHP/MySQL usage vs static HTML pages is the difference.

How much can the VPS servers handle? I have a you-tube clone and have a few other php/mysql custom apps, tons and tons of flash apps, and will be doing php/xml processing.

Can someone give me a general usage before dedicated would be required. ex more than X amount of people on site uploading, downloading, inserting, xml processing.....etc would probably require a dedicated.

I just wanna see what I'm in for

Thanks

Its hard to say that X users will cause your server to have X effects...

I would suggest 100 - 200 users you start thinking about adding extra ram into the vps that you have currently to ensure that it follows up with the requests fast enough.

If you have the opportunity to upgrade, its always better to upgrade when you're site is going live... that way you know you're all set and can handle anything that you may throw at it.

I would setup a new thread asking more details about it.... vs replying to this one... so we can kinda talk abotu the same thing instead of 2 diffrent topics.
