Default HostICan Dedicated Servers - Security?

I'm just wondering, you hear a lot about servers being attacked, cracked, and hacked.

What does HostICan do as a preventative measure with their HostICan servers? I'm hoping you don't use default cPanel config? Are we protected if we upgrade?

It's always a concern of mine and I'm sure with others interested too.

I know zero about security and I wouldn't want to manage it.

Yes, you have some custom tweaks done on your server before it is released. This doesn't make them hacker proof but it certainly help tighten up security.

Yes, seems you do have a concerned mind, no fear HostICan is here!

PS: If you're making all your files chmod 777 your asking for trouble.

I've done that before... chmod 777 everything. Yep, files modified without permission... Haha.

It was a mistake I made back in 2005. Now if software requires chmod 777 for setup, I always set it back to 644 afterwards. Heh.

The only thing you really should leave 777 is cache folders. If your software does caching, then 777 is needed.
