Yeah, it happens, but I've never seen two drives in one computer fail at the same time unless there was an outside force (ie: electrical surges, etc.)

RAID 1 is a very good solution to inexpesnsive raid configurations, after that you get into EXPENSIVE stuff like RAID 5, RAID 10, RAID 16, RAID 50.... which requires at least 4 drives for the first two and up from there.....
