Well as far as I can tell everything is done and we are running on our dedicated server. In the process we also transferred our domain name to HIC so everything is in one place. The transfer was ordered yesterday and is already complete.

Everything went very smoothy and the support from the reps and lnxcode was amazing. We are going to an event this weekend that will drive alot of traffic to our site so next week I will give a full review of how things are going.

Thanks again to everyone at HIC and those on this forum.

You can't believe how late they worked to make sure your server was set up and ready for you.

You'll really enjoy life in the fast lane.

Glad to hear that it worked out. Yea, we did work quite late to get it to you. However, seems that its going to rock, so that should be all good

Wow, I do appreciate that everyone! You did not need to stay up late for little ole me But that shows what sort of service is present at HIC.

During this process of seting up our site and choosing a host I have tried to do everything the "right" way but still have made several mistakes along the way. What the right way is sometimes will depend on who you talk to but one thing that I have found is when you are not sure exactly what to do find someone that knows more about it than you do rather than just trying to do everything yourself and screwing something up.

I read over and over on many fourms where site admins and owners complain about the software or host not giving them good service when infact they caused the problems themselves by altering software or not having chosen the correct level of hosting for their site. One thing I would say to anyone starting an online community is to do your reasearch and plan ahead. If you do 90% of your headaches will be avoided

This is a post that I would strongly agree with. If you stay ahead of what your site needs, then you will always achieve success. If you try to always say... I will upgrade... when.... .then that means you will upgrade when its too late... so always always stay ahead of the upgrade process... TTTG - is 100% bang on...

OK, this is strange

When I go to our website on one computer it says 583 members and yesterday's info is not there. But, when go to our site on a friend of mine's laptop it shows all the info from yesterday and 607 members.

Any ideas??

Since you only changed your DNS today, thats why propagation hasn't set in yet for your or his side.

OK, So in time once things are "propagated" everyone will eventualy be led to the site that shows less info due to the loss from yesterday due to the switch. The new members are showing up there which is the new dedicated server? So in time even on my computer I will be led to the new dedicated server as well.

am I close ?
