Default Upgrading from WP 2.2.2 to 2.3 broke my theme!

Hey guys,

The upgrade broke my theme!! This is the error I get:

WordPress database error: [Table 'bloghos_blog.wp_categories' doesn't exist]
SELECT cat_id, cat_name, category_count FROM wp_categories where category_count>0 order by cat_name

Does anyone know a good WP guy to fix my theme.... ?

Did you run wp-admin/upgrade.php ? It doesn't sound like your database is updated to 2.3. There were tables changed from 2.2 to 2.3 that would cause this error message.

I got it fixed finally.... but it cost us like $100 to do it. They need to think of something better then a pull out the tables and let them figure it out.

What, and have them lose their kickbacks from the PHP and MySQL programming community?

Seriously, I just think that the WP programming team needs to consider the consequences of major updates more carefully. Supposedly WP 2.4 will focus more on feature improvements and additions rather than back-end changes, which will, one hopes, lessen issues such as this.

But there has to be a better way. While my own WP2.3 upgrades went well, I've bounced ideas back and forth with Denis about potential solutions, which he might cover in a future blog.

Looks like it is fixed. Do you have any details on how to fix this for people like me who have custom themes not done properly? lol
