Default file encoding in wordpress hosting acct

I have a wordpress installed on my hosting acct and have a question. If I change the encoding in the functions.php file and then open the wordpress admin panel, it breaks.

Default Re: file encoding in wordpress hosting acct

See if the file has any symbols or spaces before or after the first , if you find any, delete them. I recommend you in future to edit files with notepad++ (excellent text editor for Windows).
