I found this company after doing some searching and think I might have found a new home. Before I take the plunge I want to clear up a few things. I've done some searches on this forum, but I want to make sure what I'm reading is what I think it to be.

1) If I decide to switch hosts, do I get assistance only in having the domains point to the new servers, or is there a way to transfer my data as well? If not, I'm assuming I'd have to re-upload everything to the new server from scratch?

2) I run a forum that averages about 1,000 unique visits per day with about 1 GB or more of traffic. My biggest fear is transferring the database over to the new host and losing something along the way. I use phpbb and run the latest version of 2.0 software. I have not upgraded to the new 3.0 release. I also have only a couple of mods installed to help with spammers. Will I need to reinstall phpbb and the mods, or will it be transferred over from my previous host?

3) How do I transfer the database so I don't lose any of the posts, member info, etc?

4) Right now I have an htaccess file in the root folder pointing to specific subfolders for each domain that I own. Will this be the case after the move, or is there another way that this needs to be done so I can have each domain separated within the one acount?

That's all I can think of at the moment. Any help on the 4 questions above would be a great help!

Thanks!

Mike
Yes, we can help you move your stuff.

Here's the link to our "SwitchNow" service, which has information about the service:

HostICan - Web Hosting - FREE Domain, PHP, 2,500GB of bandwidth, and more...

WIth a forum or any other database-driven content, such as a blog, before the transfer process begins, you need to close your site for new posts, so that nothing is lost during the transfer. It's always a good idea to put up an announcement that you are moving to new servers and that, when the move is complete, you'll open the site again for your visitors.

One more thing: After your site is moved, you should always check all the settings to verify that everything is the way you want it. We do our best, but we can't read your mind, so you want to double-check your .htaccess file, and all the other configuration information to make sure everything is correct and working properly.

I hope this gives you a bit of a direction.
